Honoring America’s History and the Power That Connects Us

Every year on June 14th, Americans celebrate Flag Day, a day dedicated to honoring the adoption of the United States flag and everything it represents — freedom, unity, sacrifice, and pride in our nation.

At Malley Electric, we’re proud to serve our local communities throughout New England, and Flag Day is a meaningful reminder of the hardworking Americans who help keep our country moving forward every day.

The History of Flag Day

Flag Day commemorates June 14, 1777, when the Continental Congress officially adopted the American flag.

The original resolution stated:

“Resolved, that the flag of the United States be thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field…”

The 13 stars and stripes represented the original thirteen colonies united together as one nation.

Over the years, the American flag evolved as new states joined the Union. Today’s flag proudly displays:

  • 50 stars representing the 50 states
  • 13 stripes honoring the original colonies

Flag Day became nationally recognized in the late 1800s and was officially established as a national observance in 1949.

What the American Flag Represents

For many Americans, the flag symbolizes:

  • Freedom
  • Patriotism
  • Sacrifice
  • Opportunity
  • Strength and unity

It’s displayed proudly at homes, businesses, schools, and public buildings across the country.

At Malley Electric, we appreciate the opportunity to serve homeowners and businesses throughout our communities while supporting the values that make America strong.

Electricity and American Innovation

The history of America is also deeply connected to innovation and progress — especially in the electrical industry.

From Thomas Edison’s electric lighting systems to today’s advanced smart homes and standby generators, electrical technology has helped shape modern American life.

Electricity powers:

  • Homes and businesses
  • Hospitals and schools
  • Manufacturing and communication
  • Emergency services
  • Modern infrastructure

Professional electricians continue playing an important role in helping keep communities safe, connected, and powered every day.

Celebrating Community and Service

Flag Day is also a reminder to appreciate the people who help support our communities:

  • First responders
  • Military members and veterans
  • Utility workers
  • Tradespeople
  • Local businesses
  • Essential workers

At Malley Electric, we’re proud to be part of a trade that helps families stay safe and comfortable year-round.

From Our Family to Yours

As we celebrate Flag Day, we encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect on the history, freedom, and opportunities represented by the American flag.

From all of us at Malley Electric, thank you for trusting us to help power your homes and businesses.

We wish you and your family a safe and happy Flag Day.
